Work with a single Google Site - Duncan.

A Google Site can be available to everybody or access may be restricted.

An example of an open Google Site is https://sites.google.com/view/noesa-unknown-settlers/home

If access is restricted you must login with a gmail address.
A gmail address is mandatory in order for Google to exercise its security.

The Duncan site is restricted, so we begin by looking at using a gmail account and how it connects with Google Sites. Then we look at how restrictions work, and how, if you have permission, you can add your comments.

Logging in.

1. Launch your browser.
2. Open a Google search page.

3. The Sign in option is at top right. Click it.

4. I have a choice of accounts. There may only be one. Or a blank box to enter your gmail address.
5. Once the account is chosen or the gmail address is entered, move to the next box.

6. The password is entered. You can check the "Show password" box to see if you got the password right. Click Next. If you are logged in there will be (usually) a letter in a circle. Hover on that circle and see who is logged in.

7. And the Google Sites construction area is reached. From here you can choose which site to edit. Or you can begin new Google Site. If you wish to make a comment, then choose the Site that is relevant. See below for more.

Restricted Google Site

Access is built in by the developer or owner.
If you have access, you may be able to View only, or you may be able to Edit as well (as an Editor).
There are two ways of using a restricted Google Site when you have access as "Editor".
A. You can just view the pages, or
B. You can go to Google Sites, choose the site to edit, and resume (or begin) editing. You must remember to Publish for any changes to stick.

How does option A work?

1. You point the browser at the Google Site. The address might be -

https://sites.google.com/view/duncan-rel/home

- and you can either enter this into the address bar or click on the link. If you intend going there again then create a bookmark.
2. Google will ask you to login (unless you are logged in already).
3. When logged in the Site can be browsed but not edited.

How does option B work?

1. You point the browser at Google Sites site creation area. The address is -

https://sites.google.com/u/1/new?authuser=1

- - and you can either enter this into the address bar or click on the link. If you intend going there again then create a bookmark.
2. Google will ask you to login (unless you are logged in already).
3. When logged in you choose the site to edit.
4. You can browse using the menu or choose from Pages on the right. You have more tools to work with.

Add a comment

You may wish to add to an existing comment - the easiest edit. Find the comment, click in behind the last word, press Enter to start a new line, type your words ... repeat until done.

5. Then click Publish at top right to save your work!
6. Finished? Click the circle with the letter in it and choose Sign out.
